Midwest Beauty Show (in which she was selected as keynote speaker) and many other Trade Shows throughout the world. She has also excelled in the competition arena. Some of her accomplishments in her twelve year career include winning such competitions as the Bronner Brothers Day By Night Competition & Mr. Raw male texturizing category. Her dynamic style of teaching afforded her a position as Educational Director for “Professional Products, Inc.”. As Educational Director, she received international exposure as an educator to such places as Canada, Brazil, Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. In her classes, she educates stylists about the latest in hair care, business and the use of technology for the salon industry. She is a columnist for Salon Sense Magazine and she was selected as a "Feature Entrepreneur" in Gospel Today Magazine (July 1999). Her work has graced the pages of many of the top industry magazines such as; Sophisticates Hair, Passion, American Salon and Hype Hair magazines. In 2004’, she was selected as the stylist to create the looks for Sally Beauty Supply’s new product line “Silk Elements”. This celebrity hair stylist who has worked on such celebrities as Betty Wright, Dottie Peoples, LaShun Pace & Dorothy Norwood is the creator of a very popular Atlanta web site for beauty (atlantasalons.com which was featured in Essence Magazine July 2000) and has implemented her very own product line NouriTress Perfect Hair Products for women experiencing hair thinning & hair loss. She is an author of 2 self published books called "Are you Running a Business OR Just Doin' Hair" and Independence Day which has received rave reviews from the Beauty Industry.
Salon Sense Magazine selected her year after year as one of the 50 most influential women and Power Brokers in the beauty industry (March 2003 , March 2004 & March 2005 and May 2006). Loreal/Mizani called on her to be the feature educator for the Loreal/Mizani Academy on Tour 2004’, a tour that traveled to 12 states educating stylists about the latest in hair care & salon business strategies. She is also the producer of a four volume Creative Styling Techniques Video Series.
To add to her list of achievements is television and radio talk show producer. She is the creator/producer/host of the first radio & television talk show about African American hair “Mane Talk”, which is webcast via the internet (www.manetalk.com). DeShawn resides in Atlanta with her husband and children.
